Steel and Stud (formerly Carports and More, Inc.) would like to thank you for choosing us for your carport or building needs. Please review the terms and conditions below regarding the ordering and installation process.
Things You Should Know
The attached order serves as your receipt for the deposit. Your order will be processed within three (3) business days of this email and submitted to manufacturing.
Please note that your order cannot be scheduled for installation until we receive your reply. Once your response is received, your order will be forwarded to the scheduling department.
In many cases, the manufacturer will contact you with a welcome call. After that initial call, there may be no further communication from the manufacturer until 1 to 4 days prior to installation to schedule your installation date. Our scheduling department must speak with you directly to confirm the installation date.
A photo of your prepared site is required before scheduling. The installation timeframe begins once the photo is received.
Revised Orders
Any revisions made after an order has been approved may result in an additional deposit or a processing fee.
- If the revision increases the cost of the order, an additional deposit will be required. No processing fee will be charged.
- If the revision reduces the cost of the order, the difference between the original deposit and the new deposit will not be refunded and will be applied as the processing fee.
Delivery Time
The manufacturer strives to install all units within 60 working days of approval; however, this is not a guaranteed delivery date. The average installation timeframe is 4 to 8 weeks, with approximately 85% of units installed within 6 weeks.
Orders placed from late summer through early fall or winter may experience delays due to weather conditions and holidays. In regions where the ground freezes, orders will be placed on priority status once the ground thaws. Pricing is protected should the manufacturer increase prices during this period.
If you are contacted for installation and are unable to accept the scheduled date, the installation timeframe will restart from the date of contact.
If you have not heard from the scheduling department within 30 days of approval, please contact us.
Day of Installation
The manufacturer will provide a time range for the crew's arrival. As with any construction project, crews may arrive earlier or later than expected due to road conditions, weather, or challenges at a previous job. Please plan for someone to be on-site for the entire day.
If you are unable to be present, please clearly mark the installation area and, if possible, have another adult available. If the crew is unable to complete the installation due to unforeseen circumstances, your installation will be rescheduled as a priority on the next available date.
If your carport is being built over an existing structure, please confirm this with your carport professional if you have not already done so. If a build-over fee applies, it will be paid directly to the installers.
Order Cancellation
Deposits are collected for processing and preparation of your order. You have three (3) days from the date of this email to cancel your order and receive a full refund of your deposit. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to orders@steelandstud.com.
After three (3) days, the deposit may be applied toward the deposit portion of another metal building purchased through Steel and Stud for up to three (3) years from the date of the original order.
Please note:
- Installation times are not guaranteed, and delayed installation is not a valid reason for cancellation.
- If you are contacted for installation but cannot accept the scheduled date, the installation timeframe restarts from the date of contact.
- Deposits on custom-sized units are non-refundable.
We at Steel and Stud thank you again for choosing us. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you install in my state?
Yes. Steel and Stud works with manufacturers that install in 48 states. Some portions of certain states may not be covered by the manufacturer used for pricing in the Carport Builder. If an order is placed outside a covered area, we will contact you with the correct pricing for your location.
Can I order a building and install it myself?
Yes, self-installation is allowed. In most states (though not all), a 5% discount is available for self-installed buildings. Materials may be delivered to your location or picked up from the nearest factory.
How long will it take to receive my carport after placing an order?
Manufacturers aim to install units within weeks of receiving an approved order. In some cases, installation may occur sooner, but timelines can vary based on season, location, and weather conditions.
Additional factors that may extend installation time include:
- Seasonal closures in areas with extreme winter weather
- Remote locations requiring coordinated installation routes
- Buildings wider than 24 feet, which require special construction
Manufacturers strive to contact all customers within 60 days of ordering.
How long does it take to assemble my steel structure?
Most units are assembled within a few hours. Larger or more complex structures may take up to four days to complete.
What preparation is required before installation?
For a successful installation, the structure must be installed on a flat, level surface. Site preparation and obtaining any required building permits are the customer's responsibility.
How much leveling adjustment is available?
Approximately 2 to 3 inches of leveling adjustment is available. If the site is not level, appropriate materials must be provided. Bottom rails include approximately 6-inch risers, and raising the legs beyond this height can compromise structural integrity.
What size concrete pad is required?
Concrete pad requirements vary by manufacturer. Please contact us before pouring your slab to confirm proper sizing.
What is the maximum leg height available?
Standard units are available with up to 12-foot legs. Taller leg heights may be available for special applications—please contact us for details.
How is the structure anchored?
- Rebar/Pin Anchors (Temporary): ½" diameter x 36" steel bars with a welded nut, included for ground and asphalt installations
- Concrete Anchor Bolts: Used for concrete slabs, typically at no additional charge
- Mobile Home Anchors: Helical anchors available for ground installation at an additional cost
Can I choose the color?
Yes. Twelve (12) color options are available, and color selection does not affect pricing.
Do I need a permit?
Permit requirements vary by city and county. All zoning, setback, and permitting requirements should be addressed before ordering.
Please note:
- Once plans are sent, deposits are non-refundable if a permit is denied for reasons unrelated to the plans
- Prices shown in the Carport Builder are for non-certified buildings
- Generic engineered plans are available in most states
- Custom plans or calculations may be required in some areas and are an additional cost
- Plans and calculations are always additional in CO, ID, MT, ND, NE, SD, UT, and WY
Is ordering directly from the manufacturer cheaper?
No. In most cases, our pricing is lower than ordering directly from the manufacturer.
Can additions be made after installation?
In many cases, yes. Please contact one of our carport professionals for options and pricing.
If you plan to enclose a carport and add walk-in or roll-up doors, leg height typically must be one foot taller on the ends and two feet taller on the sides.
Why choose a vertical roof instead of a horizontal roof?
Vertical roofs allow water, snow, and debris to run off quickly, preventing accumulation. This option is strongly recommended in areas with heavy snowfall.
How are carport dimensions measured?
Sizes are listed as Width × Length × Leg Height (example: 18' × 21' × 5').
- Width: Outside to outside of base rails
- Length: Measured by roof metal, including a 6-inch overhang on each end
- Height: Measured at the outer wall leg
Standard roof units are 1 foot taller at the side wall than the selected height. A-Frame roof units match the selected side wall height. In some states, A-Frame vertical roof units may not include overhangs.
What materials are used?
- Frame: 14-gauge or 12-gauge galvanized steel
- Roof, side, and end panels: 29-gauge steel
What warranty is included?
- 14-gauge frames: 30-day workmanship warranty
- 12-gauge frames: 30-day workmanship warranty plus a 20-year limited rust-through warranty, assuming normal use and maintenance
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, but deposits may not be refundable.
- You have 3 days from the order confirmation date to cancel and receive a full refund
- Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing
- After 3 days, deposits may be applied toward the deposit portion of another metal building purchase for up to three (3) years from the date of original order
- Installation delays are not a valid reason for cancellation
- Deposits on custom-sized units are non-refundable
How do I pay the remaining balance?
The remaining balance is paid directly to the manufacturer. Payment options will be discussed when you are contacted for delivery and installation scheduling.
PayPal is not accepted by the manufacturer. If you wish to use PayPal, we can invoice you directly. Payment must be completed prior to installation, and PayPal fees (approximately 2.9%) will apply.
