This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on steelandstud.com, operated by Carports and More, Inc. d/b/a Steel and Stud. It supplements our Privacy Policy. For your opt-out choices in one place, see Your Privacy Choices.
1. What cookies and trackers are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device; similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and scripts. We use them in four ways: to make the Site work (essential), to measure how it is used (analytics), to record sessions for debugging and quote recovery (session replay), and to advertise Steel and Stud on other sites (advertising).
2. The technologies we use
| Tool / cookie | Provider | Type | What it does | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
WooCommerce cart cookies (woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_*) |
Us (self-hosted) | Essential | Keep your reservation cart working | Session–48 hours |
State/pricing selection (browser local storage, kdState) |
Us | Essential | Remembers the state you selected for pricing | Until you clear site data |
| Google Tag Manager (GTM-T37BK2W) | Google LLC | Infrastructure | Loads the measurement and advertising tags below | n/a (script) |
Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) — properties G-R3ZDG668BM and G-YHLV8RK6N2 |
Google LLC | Analytics | Counts visits, traffic sources, and on-site behavior so we can improve the Site | Up to 2 years |
Google Ads / remarketing (_gcl_au, Google advertising cookies) — AW-18159596965 |
Google LLC | Advertising | Measures ad conversions; builds audience lists so we can show Steel and Stud ads on other sites based on your past visits to this Site | 90 days–2 years |
PostHog analytics & session replay (ph_phc_* identifiers) |
PostHog, Inc. (US Cloud) | Analytics / session replay | Product analytics plus a reconstruction of your visit: pages, clicks, scrolling, browser console logs, and text typed into Site forms (passwords always masked) | Identifier: up to 1 year; recordings retained 30 days |
| Elementor form/session storage | Us (self-hosted) | Essential | Form display and spam prevention (honeypot fields) | Session |
3. Session replay, in plain language
We use PostHog session replay. It records your visit as it happens — including what you type into our quote and contact forms (name, email, phone, ZIP, project details). Passwords are always masked. We use recordings to fix bugs and usability problems and, if you press Submit and a technical error stops your request from reaching us, to recover the details you submitted so we can still respond. We do not use recordings to contact anyone who didn’t submit a form, and we don’t build ad audiences from recorded keystrokes. Recordings are kept for 30 days. Full detail: Privacy Policy, Section 5.
4. Google Analytics Advertising Features disclosure
We have enabled Google advertising features, specifically: remarketing / advertising audiences (Google Ads audience lists built from visits to this Site) and Display Network impression reporting (view-through conversion measurement). If we enable additional features (such as Google signals demographics reporting), we will update this section. Together with Google Ads:
- We and Google use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as Google advertising cookies) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on your past visits to the Site, and to report how ad impressions, other uses of ad services, and interactions with those ad impressions are connected to visits to the Site.
- How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites: google.com/policies/privacy/partners.
5. Email open & click tracking
Separately from this website, the follow-up and marketing emails we send (through HubSpot) contain a tiny invisible image (“tracking pixel”) and tracked links. These tell us whether an email was delivered and opened and which links were clicked, so we can stop emailing people who aren’t engaging. To avoid this: use the unsubscribe link in any email (stops our emails entirely), or block remote images in your email app (stops open tracking).
6. Your choices (all of them)
- Cookie banner: our banner lets you accept or decline analytics/advertising cookies and session recording, and you can reopen it anytime via the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer. (Rolling out together with this policy — if you don’t see it yet, every opt-out below works today.)
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): from the date our consent banner is live, we honor GPC signals as an opt-out of targeted advertising/”sharing” for that browser.
- Google Analytics: install the opt-out browser add-on — tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Google personalized ads: adssettings.google.com (works across Google services).
- Industry opt-outs: NAI — optout.networkadvertising.org; DAA — optout.aboutads.info.
- Browser controls: block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Site’s essential features (cart, state pricing) may stop working if you block essential cookies.
- Rights requests: ask us to delete recordings or data tied to you — see Your Privacy Choices.
7. Changes
We update this page when our tooling changes and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes get a Site notice.
