Track Your Order

Every Steel and Stud order moves through six stages, and you can check yours anytime. Because delivery and installation are included and coordinated by the manufacturer’s crew, there’s no traditional carrier tracking number for tubular buildings — your visibility comes from the stages and touchpoints below. (Cold-formed DIY kits ship as separate freight and do get a carrier tracking number by email when the kit ships.)

The 6 stages of your order

  1. Reservation Received — your building is reserved and in our queue; nothing has been charged online.
  2. Specialist Contacted — a building specialist reaches out to confirm your configuration, final state-based price (including any surcharges), and estimated lead time.
  3. Deposit Collected — your deposit (typically 10%–30% of the order total) is processed by phone; your order confirmation email is your receipt, your order is processed within 3 business days, and your 3-day full-refund cancellation window runs from the confirmation date (Return Policy). Reply to the confirmation email — your order can’t be scheduled until we have your reply.
  4. In Production — the manufacturer serving your region fabricates your building. Typical total time from deposit to installed is 4–8 weeks (mountain/western regions 6–10), with ~85% of orders installed within 6 weeks (Shipping & Installation Policy §2).
  5. Scheduled for Install — the scheduling department confirms your date with you directly, 1–4 business days before installation, with the day-of arrival window confirmed about 24 hours in advance. A photo of your prepared site is required before scheduling — the lead-time clock starts when the photo is received.
  6. Installed — walk the structure with the lead installer before the crew leaves and note anything on the completion form. The balance is paid to the crew after your inspection; the 30-day concealed-issue reporting window begins (Warranty).

The 4 scheduled touchpoints

  1. Order confirmation email — within 3 business days of your deposit.
  2. Manufacturer welcome call — within ~14 days of approval. After this call, silence until scheduling is normal, not a problem.
  3. Scheduling confirmation — 1–4 business days before installation.
  4. Arrival window — confirmed approximately 24 hours in advance.

Where to check your status

  • Online: log in to My Account — your dashboard shows a live progress tracker for each order.
  • Phone: 1-877-275-7048, Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–6:00 PM Eastern, with your order number.
  • Email: orders@steelandstud.com with “Order status — [order number]”. Add orders@steelandstud.com to your contacts so updates don’t land in spam.

Common timing questions

  • Nothing has happened for a while? Between the welcome call and scheduling, weeks of silence are normal while your building is in the production queue. If 30 days pass after approval with no contact from the scheduling department, call or email us and we’ll chase it.
  • Something urgent or stuck? Email orders@steelandstud.com with “ESCALATION” in the subject line and your order number — escalations are monitored within one business day.
  • Need to change delivery details? Contact us before the “Scheduled for Install” stage; address changes can change pricing (freight surcharges are quoted before processing).
  • Can’t make your installation date? Tell scheduling as early as possible — customer reschedules restart the lead-time clock, and cancellations within 72 hours of a scheduled install are non-refundable with a return-trip fee if the site isn’t ready.
  • Weather delays: installation dates are estimates and weather-dependent; crews reschedule as early as possible. If we exceed your quoted lead-time window by more than 14 calendar days without a documented force-majeure cause, you can request a full deposit refund (Shipping Policy §12.2).
