Warranty Information

Last updated: July 2026

Every Steel and Stud building is manufactured and installed by our regional manufacturing partners, and warranty coverage is provided through them. This page summarizes the standard coverage; the warranty documents supplied at installation control if they differ. Questions before you order? Call 1-877-275-7048 (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM Eastern).

1. Standard coverage (tubular steel buildings)

Component Warranty
14-gauge frame 30-day workmanship warranty
12-gauge frame 30-day workmanship warranty PLUS a 20-year limited rust-through warranty (normal use and maintenance assumed)
29-gauge roof, side, and end panels Manufacturer warranty applies — see the warranty document supplied at installation
Certified-plan structures Wind/snow load performance per your certified engineering package

The workmanship warranty covers installation defects — for example uneven trim, missing screws, or panel damage from the install itself. Transferability varies by manufacturer; check the warranty document supplied at installation.

DIY cold-formed kits: kit components carry the manufacturer’s material warranty (see your kit documentation). Workmanship on self-installed kits is the installer’s responsibility.

2. What the warranty does NOT cover

  • Snow and ice: no building is warranted or guaranteed to prevent collapse under snow or ice accumulation. Keeping the roof clear of accumulated snow is the owner’s responsibility.
  • Severe weather events — these are the domain of your property insurance.
  • Wind damage on non-certified buildings, or on certified buildings whose anchoring/foundation does not match the engineered plans. Wind/snow ratings apply only to certified packages installed per plan.
  • Damage from unmarked buried utilities (customer responsibility — call 811 before install; see Shipping & Installation Policy §6).
  • Damage arising from build-overs of customer-supplied existing structures.
  • Cosmetic wear from environmental exposure consistent with normal use (gradual fading, surface oxidation on cut edges, minor condensation).
  • Damage from unlevel or shifting sites, customer-built foundations that don’t match specs, vehicle impacts, or unauthorized modifications.

3. Keeping your warranty valid

  1. Have the building installed by the manufacturer’s crew on a properly prepared site — level within 2–3 inches of true level (Shipping & Installation Policy §6). If the crew installs “as-is” on an out-of-tolerance site at your request, leveling-related warranty items are waived (documented on the completion form).
  2. For certified buildings, use the foundation and anchoring specified in the engineered plans.
  3. Keep the roof free of accumulated snow and debris.
  4. Get written approval before modifying or adding to the structure — unauthorized alterations can void coverage.
  5. Keep your order confirmation and the warranty document supplied at installation.

4. How to file a claim (5 minutes)

  1. Day of installation: walk the structure with the lead installer before the crew leaves. Visible workmanship issues — uneven trim, missing screws, dents, panel scratches — must be noted on the completion form that day.
  2. Concealed issues: contact us within 30 days of installation — email orders@steelandstud.com with your order number, photos/video, and a brief description, or call 1-877-275-7048.
  3. We coordinate with the manufacturer, who may inspect before repair (repairs made before inspection may not be reimbursed).
  4. Approved claims are repaired, or the affected components replaced, per the applicable warranty at no charge. We’ll keep you updated by email/phone at each step — for unresolved cases, email with “ESCALATION” in the subject line; we monitor that flag within one business day.

These warranties give you specific rights; you may have other rights that vary by state. Nothing on this page limits rights that state law does not allow to be limited. Full warranty-related terms, including disclaimers of implied warranties, are in our Terms & Conditions §8, and damage/defect reporting rules are in the Return Policy and Shipping & Installation Policy §13.
